Job summary

As a Researcher you will initiate, coordinate and realise innovation and research projects mainly focussed on the transition to alternative fuels.

About the job

De Voogt Naval Architects is looking for a Researcher to join our Knowledge & Innovation department.
The Knowledge & Innovation department initiates, coordinates and stimulates innovation throughout the entire Feadship organisation. It is focused on the development of Feadship products and processes related to design, engineering, production and services. As a Researcher you will initiate, coordinate and realise innovation and research projects. This vacancy was created due to developments related to the transition to alternative fuels, dual-fuel engines, fuel cells, batteries, power management strategies and efficiency improvements.

You have a great deal of experience in fuel and power systems in vessels, a sound understanding of energy consumption and know what’s involved in designing and building a high-quality product. You are comfortable using mathematical modelling or coding in your work and driven to take things to the next level.

As a Researcher you comprehend the physics behind the systems, can take measurements on board and translate the results into enhanced system specifications, designs and added value for the end customer. You stimulate these improvements and will tell us what to do. You can critically weigh the interests involved and have a transparent communication approach – essential characteristics for a coordinating role within the Feadship organisation.

You will report to the Team Leader Research & Development and work with a variety of stakeholders from across the Feadship organisation on a daily basis.

  • Excellent spoken and written command of English; having the same in Dutch is a plus but not a prerequisite;
  • Available between 32 and 40 hours a week.

We offer

  • A position in which you’ll work at the peak of global yachtbuilding, pioneering with the latest innovations in the field of increased sustainability and digitisation;
  • Space for personal development and the option to join relevant courses and training;
  • The freedom and space to set up your own research project and let us know where we might improve;

  • 27 days holiday and 13 ADV days (based on a 40-hour working week) per year;
