About De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum
The shipyard in Makkum has earned a reputation as the “Pearl of the Frisian Economy”. Because of its location on the IJsselmeer, the yard in Makkum can build the larger Feadships up to 120 meters. In addition, the yard performs Refits. Thus each Feadship retains her unadulterated Feadship properties and quality. Building a unique yacht requires creativity, flexibility and special craftsmanship. And what could be better than staying involved with the yacht you built? That is what the Makkum yacht builders like to do! De Vries Scheepsbouw Makkum has been part of the De Vries Group since 2005. The yard has two large dock halls.
New Build & Refit
Every year, two to three dream yachts are completed at De Vries Scheepsbouw in Makkum. Each yacht is custom built, entirely according to the customer’s wishes. Makkum is one of the finishing yards. This means that the yacht arrives in Makkum as a hull and is finished there as a Feadship. The total construction time of a yacht is about 3 ½ to 4 years: from the signature of the customer to the delivery of the yacht. In 2019, Makkum built a second hall, allowing several yachts to be built simultaneously. It currently employs 370 permanent employees, but also uses permanent subcontractors, independent contractors and temporary workers. The yard in Makkum therefore employs people from all over the region.
Worldwide admiration for Moonrise
Moonrise has a length of 99.95 meters. With a width of 15.5 meters, it creates fantastic interior space for 16 guests in eight passenger cabins. In addition, there is room for 32 crew members. In 2021, she won a World Superyacht Award in the “Best Displacement Motor Yacht between 3,000GT and above” category. In addition to her impressive length, Moonrise is exceptionally quiet due to the use of modern noise and vibration dampening techniques.

Hundreds of craftsmen build unique dream yachts with passion and great craftsmanship. From the moment the hull enters the yard, colleagues get to work.
